Butter Toffee Recipe

Stop what you are doing and go make these sweet delicious treats. Your tastebuds will thank you. Your family will celebrate you. People will come for miles just to watch you make them. 

This is a fun and easy way to share your your heart. Keep the whole batch for yourself, share with a friend, or take it to a party to help celebrate life. Butter toffee is a family favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

How-To

  1. Prepare a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper and then butter the parchment paper

  2. In a heavy sauce pan, melt the butter over medium to low heat.

  3. Put a candy thermometer in the pan once the butter is melted.

  4. Add the brown sugar and stir consistently until the mixture reaches 290 degrees. (keep the heat on medium to low, this part might take 10-15 minutes. Hello, biceps!)

  5. Once the mixture reaches 290 degrees, pour into the prepared pan.

  6. Pour room temperature chocolate chips even over the top of the toffee and allow them to melt. Then spread the melted chocolate out evenly over the toffee.

  7. Once it is cool, left out of the pan and break into pieces with a knife.

  8. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of butter

  • 2 cups packed brown sugar

  • 1 (11.5 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: toasted coconut flakes, pecans, and/or a sprinkle of sea salt on top of chocolate
